Our Work in Action

The following are examples of Restorative Camps past and current work:

Community of Practice:

The Restorative Justice Community of Practice is a collection of four camps who have each committed to becoming restorative camp communities that are trauma-informed; center the development of character strengths in their campers and staff; and root their culture, policies, and practices in their community’s core values. We are currently in year three of this cohort.

Multi-Year Whole Camp Restorative Justice Initiative:

Our team is supporting camps in multi-year processes to bring Restorative Justice to their communities. These projects have included coaching and training for senior leadership, Circle Training for Unit Heads and Mental Health Teams, a variety of whole staff trainings and a Restorative Justice Fellowship for counselors interested in becoming builders of the restorative community.

Restorative Justice Workshops:

The Restorative Camps team has lead over a dozen Restorative Justice workshops at professional camp conferences including FJC Leaders Assembly and Teen Mental Health conferences, as well as the ACA Tri-State conference; Camp network gatherings; Camp Leadership Teams; and seasonal staff trainings.

Restorative Justice Self Assessment :

Our Team has lead half a dozen camp communities through a self assessment process where we look at the camp’s policies, practices, culture, and infrastructure through a restorative lens to determine where the camp is along their journey towards being a restorative community.
